It’s happening: we’re brewing a strawberry lager that will be ready to go for peak summertime party season!
Last week a few of our staff members – brewers, drivers, technical and office support, sales and accounting staff – drove out together to Cammas Hall Fruit Farm to hand-pick over 100Kg of fresh strawberries for our next beer: Strawberry Hells Forever.
Finbarr: “They were some of the best strawberries I have ever tasted – I had a red face when I came back, but I’m not sure if that’s from the sun or from how many strawberries I ate.”
Sofia: “It was cool; it was great to be outside enjoying the space.”
Kayleigh: “Possibly my favourite work day ever! It felt like a road trip with my friends. Can’t wait to taste it!”
Jess: “It was so much fun that it made me want to be a farmer. So great to be outdoors in the sun, picking strawberries!”
Dan: “As much as working in the brewery is rad, it was great to get out and ‘get my hands dirty’. Between the fresh air and the sun, couldn’t have had better conditions, and it got me over my pathological fear of the countryside. Plus, they were some of the most delicious strawbs I’ve ever eaten!”
Virginia: “It was great fun, very therapeutic. The Cammas Hall Farm staff were a lovely bunch and I’d LOVE to visit again!”
Louise: “It was great to get out in the fresh air and meet the farmers and see the strawberries growing – it felt like I was on a school trip with my mates!”
Amanda: “I had to stop myself from eating strawberries so there would be some left to put in the beer.”
Stefano: “I’ve never done something like this before! I was very excited, and wouldn’t mind to do it again: the weather was fantastic, it was a really nice farm and farmer, and the strawberries were juicy and tasty. I can’t wait to see this delicious fruit turn into an amazing lager!”
Not a bad day’s work, right? We’re aiming for a taste of summer in a pint glass: fresh strawberries, not too sweet and sessionable with an ABV of 4.6% and a 21 IBU. Stay tuned for our big launch next month!
